EBC & Aviva: Pensions Explained – Everything you need to know

Vendor

aviva,ebc

Everyone needs to plan for later life. People are living longer and healthier lives, so it’s even more important to think about how and when to save for retirement and how long to keep working. Pensions can be confusing and many people don’t know where to begin. Putting money aside for your retirement can seem difficult, especially when there are so many other things to pay for.

To help you with these considerations, we are teaming up with Aviva and invite you to join our live online Q&A on Pensions Explained – Everything you need to know. You will have the opportunity to hear from Aviva pensions experts and our EBC partner, James Biggs.

You, the viewer will be in control of the discussion and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions before and during the live session. You might be wondering:

  • How exactly do pensions work?
  • At what age and how do I access my pension savings?
  • When do I get the State Pension and how much will I get?
  • I’ve got lots of different pensions, can I put them all in one place?

These are examples of the kind of questions our experts get asked every day, so If you have any questions like this or anything else, you can ask them anonymously when you register.

Time to Talk Day: Breaking Barriers and Building Connections

Vendor

health-at-work

Time to Talk Day takes place on 5 February 2025 and is a national campaign led by Mind, Rethink Mental Illness and the Co-op. It’s a powerful reminder that meaningful change can begin with a single conversation. This year, let’s use Time to Talk Day as a catalyst for breaking down stigma, opening up honest discussions about mental health, and showing that small moments — a chat over coffee, a quick text, or a walk with a colleague — can make a real difference.

Health@Works will be delivering this mProve in 30 session on 12 February, giving you the opportunity to reflect on any Time to Talk Day initiatives you took part in and, importantly, explore how to keep those conversations going throughout the year rather than just for one day.

With one in four people experiencing a mental health challenge each year, it’s understandable that many of us default to saying we’re “fine” instead of how we truly feel. Talking about mental health isn’t always easy, but every conversation has the potential to reduce stigma, encourage people to seek support, and positively impact lives.

In this session, delivered by Health@Work’s Wellbeing Consultant Suzanne Wootton, they will explore how Time to Talk Day can act as a powerful starting point for change and how you can build on it to create ongoing, meaningful conversations about mental health in your workplace.

This session will cover:

• Why Time to Talk Day matters

• The benefits of prioritising mental health at work

• The importance of conversations

Can’t attend? Make sure you still register and they will send you a copy of the webinar afterwards so you can watch it in your own time or share it with others.

Everyone needs sleep, but many of us have problems getting enough and it can sometimes feel hard to know how or when to get help for such a common issue. Living with a mental health problem can affect how well you sleep and poor sleep can have a negative impact on your mental health.

National Mind has a guide to understanding sleep problems and how they can affect you along with suggestions on self-management and how to get help if you are struggling with your sleep. We are all different so a useful starting point is keeping a sleep diary to help you understand your personal sleep pattern. It’s when you become a parent and the day you lose someone you love. It’s the times you reach out for support and the years you spend on a waiting list.
